Teaching

Dance provides a way for students to deeply engage with themselves, their communities and their environment.

My courses, in community or in university settings, aim to develop in participants a lifelong love of learning and awareness of how they learn, a confidence in their problem-solving abilities, and joy in the work of acquiring knowledge they can carry beyond the classroom.

I cultivate an environment of curiosity, effort, and collaboration through prioritizing relationship-building among class members, creating a community of care invested in the success of each person in the group. The building of our class community and the learning process are tied together, creating relationships that support students’ risk-taking as they deepen their knowledge of a subject.
